I’ve run into a couple snags that have set me back a day, mainly in packaging. I was not satisfied with my previous labels so I redid them. Not a quick task for twenty-some products. I also am tweaking some things with the lip balms. So everything should be up by tomorrow evening.
Hubs is really getting a feel for the whole thing, he is one heck of a salesman. You should have seen him giving his mom and sister the lotion samples! It made me feel really good that he’s supporting me so much in all this. He’s a good egg.

Yesterday found me recording Austen movies and bounding with glee around my living room as I dove into heady aromas and soft skin. That’s right, bath essentials has begun!
I thought it only appropo to reveal my scents since they will be up for sale within the week.
I was very careful not to make them overpowering but more of a subtle essence radiating from the skin. Most lotions are either a prescription for a headache or fade within ten minutes.
The Scents:
Vintage Amber:infused with a sensuous oil blend of black amber, clove, nutmeg & musk.
Vintage Jade: infused with an exotic oil blend of jasmine, rose & sandalwood.
Jane : An ode to romance —
infused with a romantic oil blend of rose, basil, eucalyptus & bay
Wintertide: If you could bottle winter, this would be it — infused with an refreshing oil blend of peony, marine, fresh air, eucalyptus & a chill of mint.
Clarity: This is so delicious smelling! Infused with almond oil and honey.
Pot O’ Joe: For increased antioxidant benefits, infused with real coffee oil. Smells divine!
All the lotions are goats milk honey with honeyquat (functional honey) for an unbelievable feel. It’s a natural anti-oxidant high in vitamin C that promotes collagen formation in the skin. It improves skins appearance, smoothness and texture as it’s an excellent natural moisturizer. I have also added shea butter, and wheat protein which increases elasticity and hydration of the skin. So truly these are nourishing lotions that aren’t greasy in the least, perfect for any skin type, head to toe!
My house smells heavenly and my skin is O, so soft. You know, I do have to sample them all.
Seriously though, this is by far the best feeling lotion I have ever used, and if you’re ever in my bath and bedroom you’ll know I’ve tried a lot of lotions. This is incredible and the scents are very long lasting but not strong.
Next project: shampoo

…I keep thinking about all this and have come to a new (yet another) conclusion. I will not be doing soaps at all. Even though I have some cool ideas, after washing and drying my hair today I thought more of this:
shampoos/ conditioners
lotions
fragrance & lip balms
bath salts (because they are oh so inexpensive to make and I love them)
bath tea (maybe)
body spray (maybe)
Still the five scents for the same purposes except acne. Unless of course someone has zits on their scalp.
….I’m still thinking…… there’s also a tickling of cosmetics….????

In thinking further on my “soap venture” I have decided to go with 5 scents/formulas only targeting 4 areas – acne, dry/winter skin, invigorating and relaxing (5 if I can think of a fifth). These will all have corresponding hand/body lotions, bath salts, lip and or fragrance balms. I’m also thinking of “bath tea” which in and of itself is quite a novel idea. I really want to experiment with an acne formula for my daughter who has had a problem with acne since she hit puberty, a dry skin formula causing itchy winter patches for my mom and myself, a relaxing formula for myself (on nights like these) and an invigorating formula for the mornings when I must get out of bed after nights like these. I am sure I am not the only one who is plagued by these circumstances. I will not infringe upon scents made by others because frankly I can buy from them. These will be specialty soaps for particular circumstances with most of the emphasis going to the entire sets.
I am excited about it and plan to get started within the next couple of weeks.
Now I am making a “cinnamon swirl” felted cloche out of a beautiful 100% Peruvian wool. I am most excited to see how it turns out. It is my own original pattern, so it may end up Hobbit-sized, but still it will be quiet lovely I think. Bilbo Baggins may have a lovely cloche!
I don’t know why I think of food whenever I make a hat. It’s beginning to be quite perplexing. I don’t even overly like sweets yet it’s been chocolate, Oreos, cinnamon swirl… Honestly though, you’ll look at this hat and think cinnamon swirl struesel bread. Or maybe you won’t and just think I’m a moron. Either way… I do really like cinnamon swirl struesel bread but does one want to wear it on their head? These are the thoughts that haunt me at 4am.
Next Project(s): Swirl cloche; Teal washable wool cloche; Moonlight blue cloche and scarf set; Gauntlets
